Presidential campaigns make final push

PENSACOLA, Fla. (WALA) - Volunteers for Mitt Romney who have been cajoling people to vote for him during the past months may get the chance to shake his hand in person.

“I’m excited because it’s going to help spark interest in the area, get people out there and get votes,” said Jarod Workman, a graduate student and intern for the Mitt Romney campaign.

The former Governor of Massachusetts is scheduled to appear Saturday at the Pensacola Bay Center, formerly known as the civic center, and it’s a free event.

“I believe he’s got a vision for jobs, for our future. He’s got a plan to stimulate the businesses, to let them grow this economy,” said Workman.

Workman spends his off time making calls to potential voters.  He said some people want a change.

“A lot of people are switching over this year, a lot of people are disappointed, and some that voted for the President in the last election, a lot of them are going to be voting for a different candidate this year, a lot of them for Romney,” said Workman.

Both, the Obama campaign and Romney campaign will be reaching out to voters in Florida this weekend, with early voting starting Saturday.

A spokesperson for the Obama campaign said they will reach out to early voters by canvassing colleges and churches.

Mitt Romney is scheduled to appear 11:15 a. m. Saturday, October 27, 2012 at the Pensacola Bay Center.
