GULF COAST (WALA) - This time on Fox Ten outdoors, we go fishing for bass in a small pond.
In the spring, a lot of times its hard to get the bass to bite when the water is still cold. So, if you go to smaller bodies of water, they warm up quicker and it's easier to get the fish to bite. Most fish are about a pound. Small crankbaits work well.
After you fish a pond that you can walk around in a matter of minutes, sometimes fish get accustomed to a particular type of bait. You can try a different angle for some of the fish you didn't pick up on your first lap, if you use a different lure. After using a rapala or other small crankbait, switch to a soft plastic bait like a zoom fluke. Especially if you are seeing bass chase baitfish in the shallow.
