GULF COAST - This week we are jigging with diamond jigs. We're fishing in about three hundred feet of water. We're sending it down about two hundred. We're jigging it back as fast as we can reel them in.

The technique Jason used to catch blackfin tuna was deep jigging. To catch blackfin you want a lot of action on the bait and you want to set it down at a 30 count. Count to 30, drop it down, crank it up. Put as much action on it as you can when you are working the bait.

Jigging for blackfin can be a major work out. With blackfin tuna you want to keep the line tight, especially when the water is deep. There is a lot of stretch in mono so you don't want to let your rod down and pump the fish up. You want to hold onto the rod and crank them up as quick as you can.
