The recent reports on the bass fishing have been good, so, I decided to head up to Leakesville and give it a try.
The fish move up into shallow water with the milder temperatures, as they get into pre-spawn mode.
This particular morning started out a little chilly. I had little success early on crankbaits and soft plastics. Things finally picked up mid morning as the smaller fish started feeding.
The breeze picked up too, and that always helps the spinnerbait bite. The clear water made things tough, but I developed a pattern. Most of the fish were holding midway into the coves.
I ended up with plenty of small fish to keep for some tasty fillets. I just couldn’t find that quality fish.
It’s only going to get better as warm temps rise in March.
