There's a lot happening at the Estuarium at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab. Come down to Dauphin Island and take a closer look at all this facility has to offer.

It all started 1971 and helps to showcase our natural resources to over 70,000 visitors a year. Visitors and students can see first hand how the rivers and bays interact. There are alligators, turtles, and freshwater fish species on display.

You will also find exhibits and aquariums that reflect the brackish and saltwater environments. Come see horseshoe crabs first hand! There are special aquarium tanks with rays, sharks, and deep water fish.

The Estuarium is a public resource, but the sea lab is also on site, serving students from the state of Alabama’s 22 four year universities.

Scientists at the sea lab also study how the influences of man affect our ecosystem.

The Estuarium is open from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and opens at noon on Sunday. It's located at the east end of Dauphin Island near Ft. Gaines. This is a great place to bring the family.
