LAFITTE, La. - Local Guides Captain Andrew Carter and Captain Lynn Pridgen invited me along for some red fishing near Lafitte , La.  We fished some very muddy water after record rainfall in the area. Conditions were tough but we still found fish over the Christmas holidays. I caught several fish that revealed their presence in the muddy water. You can see fish leaving visible wakes in shallow water.

One key aspect of the pattern that worked on this trip was fisning warmer water. Air temperatures were cool to start the day. We focused on tight canals and bayous that warmed up quickly in the sunshine.

We all caught good fish, including a great double. Captain Andrew Carter’s hit a shrimp under a cork. Lynn picked up a fish on a mirrodine.
