Fishing in frigid temperatures

The wind chill was easily in the low 30's as I headed out of Scotts Landing this week with Captain Lynn Pridgen. Our goal was to catch trout and redfish using grubs in these adverse conditions.  Cold temperatures actually help to improve the bite by concentrating bait and fish.

Dr. Eric Becker was also along on the trip and he "broke the ice" with the first fish of the day.We relocated to a more protected bank up river.  Captain Lynn located a school of hungry trout under the birds. Conditions improved as the morning progressed. Sunshine and rod bending action really helped get the day going!

I will show you some of the highlights from part two of our trip next Thursday.
