On my recent redfishing trip with Captain Joey Gates, the fish were biting very well. The conditions were ideal for sight casting. The fishing was so good that it was time to break out the fly rod. It’s a real challenge to make an accurate presentation, but it sure is worth it when you feel that bite! I caught several nice reds on a medium sized chartreuse and white pattern. My favorite size outfit is an 8 wt rod and a 20 lb. flourocarbon leader.
In outdoors news, the Mobile City Bass Championship is this Saturday at Live Oak Landing. The top anglers from the area will compete for the title. Weigh in is at 4pm and the public is welcome.
