GULF COAST - There are some great ways to catch more fish using the internet.
There is a lot more to fishing than simple luck, and there are scientific reasons why fish congregate in certain areas. These trends change depending on time of the year and local weather conditions.
Learning about these patterns can take a lifetime of searching on your own. The good news is, you don’t have to figure it out by yourself.
Folks ask me all the time, “How do you catch all those big fish so fast?” Well, to be honest, most of the time it’s because a friend told me where they are biting. A good network of friends sharing information can help you cut out the guess work.
There are a number of popular message boards where fisherman gather, to exchange information. The alabama coastal fisherman, or acfafish.com. Great Days Outdoors magazine’s gdomag.com, www.havpu.com, and pensacolafishingforum.com are great places to start.
Picking a good fishing guide can also help you learn a lot about our area. You can spend a lot of money on a fancy boat and even more money keeping it maintained, all the while fishing on your own and struggling. Guides cost money too, but they can teach you more about local fishing in a short amount of time. Whether you are fishing inshore, or offshore -Get a guide first, and then start going on your own.
High water is rolling down from upstate. This is going to have a
big impact on the fishing around Mobile Bay and the Causeway over
the next few weeks. Other areas like Dauphin Island, Perdido Bay
and Pensacola Bay will produce just fine. This may be a good time
to make some new friends and do some research about new areas. This
can make your next trip on the water a success.
