This week on FOX10 Outdoors, We take you down to Fowl River. Fowl River is great place to fish in the Fall and Winter. We had an opportunity earlier this year to fish for trout and redfish.
The fish were biting really good on a falling tide. A falling tide is best for trout and reds. Usually when the tide is dead low, the fish don't cooperate. Once the tide starts coming back in you can pick up a few fish.
On this particular day, we fished with grubs, a four-inch Arkansas shiner with a 1/4 ounce head. The fish weren’t too aggressive. Most of the bites came right on the bottom.
Fowl River is a very pretty place at sunset. It's a challenging place to fish, but there are a few nice fish. If you go out there and stick with it, maybe you can catch a few fish to take home and eat.
In outdoors news, the Mobile Bass Association is holding the annual city championship this weekend, November 5. Participants include the top local anglers from a number of local bass clubs. Weigh in is at Dead Lake Marina in Creola at 4pm.
