Inshore fishing for speckled trout

October inshore fishing continues to be excellent.

A double popping cork rig is the ideal bait for schooling speckled trout this time of the year. I like to use sturdy tackle so that I don't have to re tie when the action is hot.

I am using braided main line tied to a popping cork, and below that, I have a 20 pound fluorocarbon leader. And, underneath I have two 1/8 oz jig heads with H & H sparkle beetles on them.

It's a real simple rig for catching speckled trout this time of the year in the delta.
