It was a nice October morning for a fish fishing trip. Captain Richard Rutland with Cold Blooded fishing invited us out to try something a little different.
The popping cork bite has been great lately, but the bigger fish like artificial hardbaits like mirrolures, mirrodines, and glad shads. Captain Rutland shows us how to rig up these bait with a loop knot. It gives it more action than tied straight to the lure.
You just bring the bait along at a slow to moderate pace, and occasionally twitch the rod to give the bait some action. This makes the lure look more realistic to the fish. I caught my best fish on a gold 52m mirrolure worked slowly.
My good friend Troy Carter taught me how to work these twitch baits on fowl river over 15 years ago. Troy caught a fine fish on a gold spotted 52m.
So, try these lures out and that may help you to get through the smaller schoolies and catch some nicer trout this fall.
In outdoors news, there is a fun shoot fundraiser at Taylor Creek Saturday, October 29. The proceeds benefit the Preschool for the Sensory Impaired. Call 433-1234 for more information. Come on out and support this great cause.
