Speckled trout moving into flats

Speckled trout fishing gets better as the temperatures rise in April.  Fish transition out of deeper winter holes and up onto the flats.

One of the most effective ways to target these inshore saltwater fish is to use live shrimp suspended a few feet below a popping cork.

On my recent trip with Captain Richard Rutland, we used spinning rods to make nice, long casts to the skiddish trout holding in these shallow areas.

So, try some shallower areas for spring success
