Hurricane Isaac’s wind, surge, and rain left us with a lot of dirty water. The fishing reports were fairly poor in the wake of the storm. However, the water finally started cleaning up early this week in many areas.
I headed out with Captain Andrew Carter to scout the fishing around Bayou LaBatre. I started out using top water and Andrew was using a Mirrolure Mirrodine.
The Mirrodine ended up being the best choice. The cool mornings actually help get the fish in a biting mood. I finally switched to a Mirrodine myself and starting getting action right away.
We caught Specs, and white trout. White trout are great to eat. That’s the kind of fish you want to eat as soon as you get home.
It usually takes a few weeks for the fishing to pick up after a significant storm. It looks like things are in great shape now..
