Improving your shot with clay targets

We headed out to Taylor Creek Hunting Preserve with Keith Walker. We are going to give you some tips on how to become a better shot.

Clay targets are a great way to practice. When firing, balance is important. It helps to shift the weight to your front foot.

Keith says you want to lead with your forehand, bring your back hand up, shoulder to cheek at the same time and squeeze the trigger.

You have to keep moving. A lot of times we have a tendency to see the target, squeeze the trigger and stop the gun. What Keith is telling us is to swing through the bird - just like in baseball.

You don't see a player line up, swing the bat and hack at the ball and stop. They swing through. You have to keep your barrel moving at the same speed as the target you are shooting at to break it. If you do that you have a good chance.

Next week will take the tips to the field.
