The fish are still biting despite recent rains. I had the opportunity to head out with Captain Bobby Abruscato in search of trout. The topwater bite was fantastic on this cloudy morning. Bobby caught the first good fish, and it was a male trout that was nearly 3lbs! Most males don’t get that big. You can tell the are male, because they grunt like a croaker.

In outdoors news, the 10th Annual Mystic Stripers Fishing Rodeo is Saturday, June 16th at Dauphin Island Marina starting at 6am. Tickets are $10 for the special kids category and $25 adults. Ticket outlets include Jemison's, Both West Marine locations, Southern Bama, Ship-N-Shore, Greer's Fowl River and Cedar Point Pier.
