Weather impacts fishing trip

GULF COAST - Jason Smith headed out of Fowl River with Captain Andrew Carter, early in the morning. Weather conditions were iffy. The water was calm, rain was all around.

It was good to cash in on a nice speckled bite to start the day. Jason started with some top water at first light. They had a number of great blowups on top water, but the trout missed the lure some too. That's pretty common, its really all about the strike. The group  did connect on a few more top water fish before it was time to switch to shrimp. Andrew caught a nice fish on a popping cork .  They had six or so fat trout in the box before the storms ran them off.

July was a tough month in 2011, dodging a lot of rain.
