ORANGE BEACH, Ala. (WALA) - Officials with the Baldwin County Community Alliance said this year's Baldwin Star Search, which attracted a crowd of over 600, was one of the most successful events to date.
The fifth iteration of the annual event, sponsored by Project Rebound and presented by the BCCA took place February 22, 2013, at the Orange Beach Event Center at The Wharf.
Officials announced the winners of the event:
The BCCA said the goal of the event was to show high school students, during their most impressionable years, that they do not need alcohol or drugs in order to have fun.
Officials said Nearly 400 Baldwin County High School students signed alcohol and drug-free pledge cards as part of the event's message.
Video clips played during intermission consisted messages encouraging students to live an alcohol and drug-free lifestyle but intermission entertainment was also provided by the Robertsdale High School’s Dance Team, Baldwin County High School’s Chorus, as well as theatrical performances from Robertsdale High School’s Drama Club and Fairhope High School’s Drama Club.
Masters of Ceremony Cherish Lombard, host of Studio 10, and radio host Q-Tip emceed the show.
Judges included Lyle Cooper, Project Rebound; Dani Dials, WFNA-The CW; Matt McCoy, Hit Music Now; Greenberry Taylor, Freelance journalist; and Scott Adams, WABD.
The BCCA commended the Baldwin County Public School System for their efforts in coordinating their high school winners and promoting this alcohol and drug-free event throughout their schools.
