Mobile, Ala. (WALA) - Second time's a charm for the Arkansas State Red Wolves (10-3, 7-1 Sun Belt), winning the GoDaddy.com Bowl after back-to-back appearances in the game.
Sunday night, on the eve of the BCS National Championship, ASU defeated Kent State (11-3, 8-0 MAC) 17-13 at Mobile's Ladd-Peebles Stadium.
ASU quarterback Ryan Aplin threw a 31-yard touchdown pass to J.D. McKissic in the second quarter and was 21 of 30 for 213 yards in the game, capping a masterful senior season.
In 2012, Aplin threw for over 3,100 yards, 23 touchdowns, and only 4 interceptions.
Defense came to the forefront in the third quarter for both teams, as neither could manage more than 3 points in the second half.
This is the first time a Sun Belt team has won the GoDaddy.com Bowl , previously known as the GMAC Bowl and Mobile Alabama Bowl.
