AUBURN, Ala. (WALA) - Cody Parkey hit a 35-yard field goal in overtime to lift Auburn over the University of Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday.

The Tigers (1-2, 0-1 SEC) got their first win of the year off the boot. Auburn fell to Clemson and Mississippi State to start the season.

ULM scored twice late in the 4th quarter on Auburn's defense to force extra time, but could not score on their only possession in overtime.

The Tigers answered by getting in position for the Parkey kick to escape with a win, 31-28.

The Warhawks of ULM were already receiving national attention after beating Arkansas 34-31 in Fayetteville last weekend.  That game also went into overtime.

The win was a crucial one for Auburn with third-ranked LSU coming to town in week four.
