MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - With the 2013 Senior Bowl just a few weeks away, officials said the roster is nearly completed after 18 more players accept invitations.
Crimson Tide tight end Michael Williams is among the 18 players announced today and is the fourth player from the SEC Champs who has accepted an invitation to the game.
The new additions, announced on twitter this afternoon @seniorbowl, bring the roster total to 88.
Oklahoma’s Landry Jones is the fourth quarterback to commit to the game, joining Florida State’s E.J. Manuel, N.C. State’s Mike Glennon and Arkansas’ Tyler Wilson. Jones has shattered nearly every passing record at Oklahoma and has led the Sooners to more wins than any quarterback in school history.
If he can lead the Sooners past Texas A&M on Friday night, he will join West Virginia’s Pat White and Manuel as the only quarterbacks to win four bowl starts.
Thomas is the first unanimous All-American in Fresno State history, leading the FBS with eight interceptions this season. Fisher, a third-team All-American, ranks near the top of what is expected to be an elite offensive line class. Cave, a second-team All-American, anchors the offensive line for the Fighting Irish.
Cave’s Irish will go up against Alabama for the BCS National Championship on January 7, 2013, in Miami. Linebacker Nico Johnson, safety Robert Lester and long snapper Carson Tinker have all officially accepted invitations to the 2013 Senior Bowl.
