AUBURN, Ala. (WALA) - Celebrations begin in Baldwin County as Daphne High School defeated the Hoover Bucs for the 6A state championship title in Auburn, Alabama.

Both teams have met five times for the title. This is the Trojans second time to defeat the Bucs. They last defeated Hoover in 2001.

This year, Hoover was on the board first with a trick play in the first quarter. Offense faked a run as Bucs quarterback, Ryan Carter threw a deep pass to wide receiver, Reginald Johnson, for a touchdown.

Score 6-0 after Bucs kicker, Larsen Real, missed the extra point. Real ended up having a bad night, missing two field goals.

In the second quarter, Daphne's defense pulled in an interception, but Hoover kept the ball after officials call a facemask against the Trojans.

Daphne finally scored in the fourth after moving the ball 33 yards in four plays to the 1-yard line. T.J. Yeldon put the ball in the endzone for the Trojans, making the score 7-6, Daphne.

Hoover had another chance but failed to take the lead when Real missed his second field goal of the game.

Big week for Baldwin County Teams as Daphne Trojans win 6A State Championship Friday. Spanish Fort Toros won their first State Championship Thursday when they took the 5A title against another Birmingham area team, Briarwood Christian.

This year's title games were played at Jordan-Hare Stadium at Auburn University.
