ATLANTA (WALA) - Mobile native A.J. McCarron threw a 45-yard touchdown pass to Amari Cooper with just over three minutes left in the SEC Championship to secure an Alabama victory.

The Tide (12-1, 7-1 SEC) beat Georgia (11-2, 7-1 SEC) 32-28 Saturday in the Georgia Dome, and will now play for their third national championship in four years.

Alabama controlled the clock, winning the time of possession battle 37:35 to 22:25.  The duo of Bama's running backs — Eddie Lacey and T.J. Yeldon — were largely responsible for that, combining for over 330 yards in the win.

Lacey finished with 20 carries for 181 yards and two scores.  It was his best effort of the season, topping the 177-yard game at Missouri.

As for the freshman Daphne product, Yeldon posted the biggest game of his young career, 153 yards and a touchdown.

Alabama will play Notre Dame (12-0) in the BCS National Championship on January 1, 2013.
