Game of the Week: Daphne vs. Wetumpka

DAPHNE, Alabama (WALA) - It's the final First and Ten Game of the Week for 2010, as the quarter-finals are reached in the Alabama high school playoffs: ninth-ranked Wetumpka at second-ranked Daphne.

The playoffs aren't an unusual site at Trojan Stadium. After all, Daphne football lives in the playoffs.

"From the first grade on, talking about Daphne football in the playoffs, so it's kind of a community thing they grew up learning," said Daphne head coach Glenn Vickery.

The 22 seniors on the team have learned a lot about football, community, and themselves over the years. And they know it's too early for their football careers to end.

"Since going to high school, the dream is to win state and come back with a ring. I think we can do it," said senior wide receiver Israel Lamprakes.

"We got a little taste of it last year, more of a taste this year," added senior linebacker Kevin Wilson.

The Trojans are 12-0, but if you factor in the summer and 7-on-7 games, this Daphne team is 24-1, and marching with confidence... and character.
