TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - After an 11-year hiatus, Florida State is going back to the NCAA tournament for the second straight year.
The Seminoles (22-9) will play Gonzaga (26-6) in Buffalo, N.Y. on Friday in first-round play of the 2010 NCAA tournament. The winner will advance to meet either the West Region's top-seeded team, Syracuse, or Vermont in the second round.
Florida State may have lost a chance at a higher seed and possibly playing in nearby Jacksonville when they were upset 58-52 by North Carolina State in their first-round game in the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament. The Seminoles were seeded third in the tourney and NC State was 11th.
Florida State lost its first round NCAA tournament game last year to Wisconsin.
