LAS VEGAS (WALA) - South Alabama overcame a six-point deficit midway through the second half and got a double-double from Augustine Rubit (15 points, 13 rebounds) to defeat San Diego 68-62 in Las Vegas.
The Jags,8-3, outscored San Diego, 21-9, over the final 8:20 of the contest.
A 10-2 run over a 3:08 span gave the Jags the lead at 57-55 with 5:12 left and Rubit got a key putback with 19 seconds remaining in the game.
Freddie Goldstein had a career-high 17 points, thanks to five 3-pointers. Mychal Ammons came off the bench to post 17 points, also a new personal best.
The Jags take a break and travel to Middle Tennessee on December 31 to open Sun Belt Conference play.
