TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron says he will return for his senior season with the Crimson Tide next year.
McCarron made the announcement in a statement released by the school on Wednesday. The Mobile native says the NFL is a dream, and he thinks another year at Alabama will help him succeed.
McCarron leads the nation in passing efficiency headed into the BCS championship game against Notre Dame, and he helped Alabama win the national championship last season.
McCarron's 26 touchdown passes this year is a single-season record for the Tide. He threw for 2,669 yards with just three interceptions.
Alabama coach Nick Saban says he's pleased McCarron is coming back. He says McCarron can add to what he's already accomplished at Alabama and better prepare for pro football.
Sports Illustrated reported that junior running back Eddie Lacy and junior lineman D.J. Fluker- a Foley graduate- will be foregoing their senior seasons and entering the NFL Draft.
That could mean the Bama backfield belongs in large part to Daphne's T.J. Yeldon going forward.
