MOBILE, Ala. - The University of Mobile avoided being swept in a 3-game conference series by taking a 10-2 decision at Spring Hill College on Sunday afternoon at Stan Galle Field.

Mobile jumped out to an early 3-0 advantage with two runs in the 1st inning and a run in the 2nd frame. The Rams then put two more scores on the board in the 4th inning before the Badgers broke into the scoring column in the 5th inning off an RBI single to left field by freshman centerfielder Andy Robbins.

The Rams made it a 10-1 runaway with two more runs in the 7th inning and a 3-run 9th inning. Spring Hill picked up a sacrifice fly by senior Wayne Huell for a tally in the bottom of the 9th, but a bases-loaded line drive back to Ram reliever Josh Blaylock ended the game in double-play as Blaylock quickly tossed to third base catching Badger senior shortstop Ryan Cummings off base before he could scramble back.

Robbins had a 3-for-3 day with an RBI while Cummings had two hits for SHC.

Every hitter in the Ram line up collected at least one hit as Mobile (3-6, 1-2 SSAC) collected 19 hits of which 18 were singles. Second baseman Justin Beck was 4-for-6 with three runs scored, a double and two RBI to lead the Ram charge and first baseman Braxton Hamil added three hits and two RBI. Mobile designated hitter Ryne Phillips, right fielder Ryan Parazine, catcher Ryan Waltman, shortstop Cameron White and third baseman John Soutullo each had two hits on the day.

Junior Nick Schmiemeier (1-1) took the loss for SHC in three innings with eight hits, five earned runs, five walks and two strikeouts.

Ryan Hines (1-2) was the Ram winner lasting seven innings with six hits, a walk and five strikeouts.

Spring Hill (5-3, 2-1 SSAC) will next play at Tougaloo College (0-12) in a non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday in Jackson, Miss., beginning at noon.
