MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Behind a two-hit, complete game shut-out from Gunner Roach, UMS-Wright advances to the state semi-finals.
The 4A Bulldogs will be joined by the Spanish Fort Toros (5A) and other teams in our area looking for state championships.
The Toros and Bulldogs are each looking for "three-peats," or three consecutive titles.
Roach's pitching gem, paired with an 8-run outburst by the Bulldogs offense, lead UMS to an easy 8-0 victory over St. James.
Spanish Fort also took care of business Saturday, beating Russell County 9-2.
Both best-of-three series went to a third game.
Elsewhere in the area, teams like St. Luke's (1A), Leroy (2A), Flomaton (2A), and Fairhope (6A) also advanced. Fairhope needed only two games to take care of Baker in their series.
The state semi-finals are set for May 11 and 12.
