CLEVELAND (WALA) - Cleveland Browns running back Trent Richardson suffered a rib injury during the third quarter of Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Richardson hoped to return to the game, but was unable to due to swelling around his side and rib area.
The Pensacola native and former Alabama star left the game with 14 carries for 37 yards, and two receptions.
Richardson is optimistic about his return in the Week 7 game against the Colts.
During a press conference on Sunday, he said, “I took a shot but I’ll be back. I’ll be ready for next week.”
Monday, Richardson is expected to undergo an MRI.
The Browns broke their losing streak with a second-half offensive explosion. The Brown’s 27-3 surge during the beginning of the second half attributed to the 34-24 victory that could possibly diminish the Bengals’ playoff hopes.
The Cleveland Browns, (1-5-0) will face Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts (2-3-0) next, in week 7.
