PASADENA, CA. (WALA) - Rose Bowl sod from BCS Championship Game was rolled up Monday and made available for Alabama fans to purchase.
For the first time in history, sod from the actual playing surface of the BCS National Championship Game at the Rose Bowl will be made available to football fans as game-used collectibles.
The sod was installed specifically for the game between the Crimson Tide and the Texas Longhorns. The No. 1 ranked Crimson Tide beat the Longhorns in a 37-21 victory.
Stadium Associates will give the first 100 pieces to the athletic departments at Alabama and Texas. Never before have fans been able to own a piece of a championship game field.
Sod from each end zone and the BSC logos at the 50 yard line and 30 yard lines are available for $99.99 each (plus S & H). Crimson Tide fans and others who want the complete set of a piece of each end zone and the BCS logo can buy this combination for $249.00 at www.stadiumassociates.com.
Each block will be freeze-fried, encased in a glass display case, and documented by Stadium Associates.
Stadium Associates launched the concept of Licensed Sod with Major League Baseball and New York Yankees Sod™ in 2009. Stadium Associates is fully licensed by The Collegiate Licensing Company, an IMG Company, and is the exclusive vendor for Game-Used Sod from The Rose Bowl Stadium.
