MOBILE, Alabama (WALA) - South Alabama’s Courtney Smith got the call he’d been waiting for the past two months. Sunday night, hours before the start of Senior Bowl week, the former Jags wide receiver got his invite to college football’s premier all-star game.
Troy's Jerrell Jernigan had to pull-out with an injury and that opened a spot for Smith who became the first Jag to be invited to the Senior Bowl. And he plans on taking full advantage.
“It means a whole lot to play in this game, coming from South Alabama,” Smith said. “I just want to showcase my talents to help by USA teammates here out. Playing in the Senior Bowl can only help, it can only boost my stock and show that I can play in the NFL.”
