MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - The Senior Bowl announced 13 more players who have accepted invitations to the 2013 game. The 13 additions brings the current roster total to 37, with 15 more names expected to be released in our next ‘roster reveal’ on Wednesday, Dec. 19.
Officials said Rutgers All-American linebacker Khaseem Green, who led the Big East with 125 tackles, six forced fumbles, 5.5 sacks and two interceptions is among the players announced Wednesday.
Elon University wide receiver Aaron Mellette will be the first player in his school’s history to play in the Senior Bowl. Mellette led the Southern Conference with 97 catches for 1,398 yards and 18 touchdowns this season. Two other wide receivers – Kansas State’s Chris Harper and Louisiana Tech’s Quinton Patton – join Mellette in today’s roster release.
For the first time since 1952, Cornell will be represented at the Senior Bowl. JC Tretter, a 6-4, 300-pound offensive lineman, who was a first-team All-Ivy League selection at left tackle, will likely play guard when he comes to Mobile in January.
And despite his team going 0-12 this past season, Southern Miss linebacker Jamie Collins was a standout for the Golden Eagles. Collins was a first-team Conference USA selection after leading the conference in tackles for loss (20) and sacks (10).
Kentucky guard Larry Warford becomes the fifth SEC player to accept an invitation to the nation’s premier college football all-star showcase.
The Senior Bowl is set to be played at 3 p.m. on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile. It will televised by the NFL Network.
