MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Monday, January 21 was a long day for the Senior Bowl players. They began with early morning activities and their first day of practice.
At night, they met with the media at Battleship Park.
This year’s Senior Bowl players come from all over, like Margus Hunt who came to Southern Methodist University all the way from Estonia to run track. Now, the 6’8’’ defensive lineman is a star on the football field.
"I've been playing football for the past two years with huge passion, 2010 was the last year with track and field so it’s an absolute blessing to be here right now," said Hunt.
One of the most popular players with the media was Michigan's quarterback, Denard Robinson.
"I don't want to be the popular guy. I just want to be out here mingling with the friends meeting new people,” said Robinson.
After a phone interview with ESPN, Robinson talked to FOX10 News about the transition from QB to wide receiver.
"It’s always a learning experience but I knew it, and I know I’m going to have a lot of things I’m going to be mad about, but I got to keep going," said Robinson.
Although he won’t be on the field due to an injury, Auburn's Philip Lutzenkirchen is in Mobile hoping for his shot in the NFL. It's a sentiment he shared with Alabama’s Nico Johnson.
"My longtime dream is not that far away and to have the opportunity to play in the NFL is special, and I’m going to enjoy this moment in with my teammates and other players across the country and just soak it all in," said Johnson.
