The Crimson Tide touches down in Miami

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Both teams vying for a national championship touched down in Miami to begin nearly a week of preparations for the big game.

Fresh off the plane, Alabama center Barrett Jones was immediately asked if his availability is still in jeopardy due to a foot injury.

Jones gave a very Tide-like answer.

“It feels good; I’m ready to roll," Jones said.

This week won’t be short on ‘Roll Tides,’ as Bama tries for back to back titles.

“People ask me all the time, ‘Do you get tired of playing in the National Championship?’ Of course not. Every game is a little different and this is going to be a big challenge for us," Jones said.  "Notre Dame is a great team, and we’re excited, and I can’t wait to get there.”

If there is a championship formula, Bama knows it having won titles in three out of four years.

Head coach Nick Saban wouldn’t say that alone gives his team an advantage.

He said right now he needs his players, especially the young ones, focusing on one thing; and it’s not the past.

“Once you get on the field, it’s going to be about not necessarily even who’s the best team, it’s going to be about who plays the better game that day," Jones said.  "Certainly, our coaches have been in these situations and have learned how to effectively prepare us for the national championship game. And I think if there is an advantage, that might be it.”

For defensive lineman Damion Square, it's all about staying with that championship formula.

“We’ve got to go play Alabama football. That’s the only thing we know how to do; that’s the only thing we can do," Square said.  "We show up to play Alabama football, we’re good.”

Bama has the night to get settled in before practicing Thursday.
