PRICHARD, Ala. (WALA) - Signing day did not turn out like vigor's Darius Philon expected.
The talented defensive lineman who had been committed to Alabama for months is now headed to Arkansas.
Philon was squeezed out by the new scholarship rule in the SEC that won't allow a team to sign more than 25 players each year.
Philon had known for a couple weeks he was going to have to wait a year to play at Alabama and seemed stressed Wednesday at the school’s signing press conference. He still put on an Alabama cap, but hours later he faxed in his letter to Arkansas, a school he did not even visit during the recruiting process.
He will, however, join his Vigor teammate, Jamichael Finley, who also signed with the Razorbacks.
