MOBILE, Ala. - Get ready to say goodbye to Hotmail. Microsoft announced it's killing Hotmail, and replacing it with a new, updated email service called Outlook.com.
If you're one of the hundreds of millions of Hotmail users, your account will be moved to Outlook.com by this summer.
You could call it the most popular app, that hardly anyone has. More than 800,000 people are waiting in line for a new iPhone app called 'Mailbox.'
The app helps you process emails and keep a cleaner inbox. Features like "Snooze" let you deal with urgent emails first, and push others to another day. To get on the waiting list, search for the 'Mailbox App' in the Apple store.
How many times have you said, "I wish this car would drive itself"? Well now that technology is closer to hitting the market than you think. The Google self-driving car made its Lone Star state debut, yesterday at the Texas Transportation Forum.
The Lexus Hybrid has a spinning laser that maps out the roads. It also identifies hazards like other cars, pedestrians, and street lights. It then creates a 3D mapping system that it uses to guide itself. This type of technology is still in the research and development phase, but could be seen on the road within the next five years.
The Texas Department of Transportation says transportation innovation like the Google car is necessary for safer more efficient roads.
That's your Daily Tech.
