Atlas Oyster House Beer Classes

Updated: Tuesday, 22 Jan 2013, 10:00 AM CST
Published : Tuesday, 22 Jan 2013, 10:00 AM CST

Atlas Oyster House is proud to partner with the Lewis Bear Company to present a series of informational craft beer tastings. The craft beer movement is a return to flavorful, authentic beer - and American brewers are leading the way.

The first series of classes, known as A.B.C. (Atlas Beer Classes), will be held on the first Thursday of the month (February through June) and will feature a presenter discussing the highlighted craft brewery and three selections from that brewery. Classes will cover the basics as well as specific information regarding the history of the brewery and their beers.

There are two classes every month, each one an hour long. The first class begins promptly at 5:30 p.m. and ends at 6:30 p.m. The second class starts at 7:00 p.m. and concludes at 8:00 p.m. Class cost is $10 per person, per class, which gets each participant one 6-ounce glass of each of the featured beers. In addition, throughout the class, participants should be prepared for "pop quizzes," where we will be giving away T-shirts, beer glassware, gift certificates and more.

February 7: Ales Vs. Lagers featuring Capital Brewery
March 7: Hops and Barley featuring Bayou Teche Brewery
April 4: Firkins and Yeast featuring Victory Brewery Company
May 2: Beer Glassware and Serving Techniques featuring the Craft Brew Alliance
June 6: Food and Beer Pairing featuring Pensacola Bay Brewery
(Note - featured breweries may be subject to change)

At the conclusion of the semester, all of those who had perfect attendance for the classes will be invited to a meet and greet with a brewmaster on the Deck Bar where we will serve complimentary appetizers and beer shots. For those who didn't have perfect attendance, tickets will be available for purchase for $25 per person.

Seating is limited and reservations are required, so be sure to make yours by calling our events line, (850) 433-9450 or email maria@goodgrits.com .  You can also visit www.goodgrits.com .
