More than 25 professional surf photographers contributed to the chronological presentation of historical and contemporary photographs, vintage surfboards and surf memorabilia from across Florida. Scholars from four universities have woven surfing’s larger themes, including nature, religion, environmental activism, music and maritime history, into the specifics of Florida’s surfing history.
The exhibition will include one gallery dedicated to local and regional surfboards and memorabilia. Surfing films compiled from vintage clips will be shown during the summer-long exhibition which runs through Saturday, September 1, 2012. Anyone interested in loaning vintage boards or surf memorabilia is asked to contact Fred Esposito at Espocreative@gmail.com .
