Big race coming up at Mobile Speedway

Super late model teams from across the United States and Canada are gathering for the final race in the U.S. Canadian Challenge Series on Saturday, September 22, 2012! All the fun happens at the Mobile International Speedway, a Rick Crawford Performance Track.

The SuperSeal 150 is supposed to be the biggest Super Late Model race in the nearly 50 year history of the Speedway. At the end of 150 laps, the winner will cash in on a $10,000 payday! One driver will earn a coveted spot in a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series entry at Martinsville in October and the 2012 Miller Lite Super Late Champion will be crowned!

The first round of the U.S. - Canadian Challenge was on September 1, 2012 at Auto Clearing Speedway in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. The winner of that race was Edmonton, Alberta’s Chris Skelton. Because of that win, Skelton has earned the right to race Saturday night at Mobile International Speedway to compete for both the win, and an opportunity to compete in the Camping World Truck Series.

If Skelton finishes in the top-three in Saturday's race, he will have captured the Truck Series deal regardless of who wins. But Skelton also has his sights on the $10,000 winner’s purse and the right to call himself the undisputed US-Canadian championship driver. If Skelton doesn't finish in the top-three, the ride will go to the winner as long as he or she is approved by NASCAR.

Fifteen-year-old Kyle Benjamin, who is three years younger than NASCAR’s minimum age requirement, will also be racing Saturday night. Superseal has promised that if Benjamin or any other under-18 competitor wins the race, they will honor their NASCAR commitment as soon as that driver becomes of age.

Saturday night’s race is also the final race of the Miller Lite Super Late Model Series and the Sunoco Gulf Coast Championship Series. The all-star field is also expected to contain Mike Garvey, Augie Gril, Logan Boyette, Donnie Wilson, Becca Kasten, T.J Reaid, DJ Vanderley, Josh Bragg, Thomas “Moose” Praytor, and Jeremy Pate.

Meanwhile, it’s championship season for each of the four local divisions that are competing on Saturday night at Mobile International Speedway. That’s especially true for Brandon Tipton, who leads the Island Motor II Bomber standings by 41 points over teammate Jayme Corry.

James Patrick and Chad Robinson are also in must-win scenarios on Saturday night as the Mayhem Motorsports teammates enter their 20-lap feature, trailing sportsman championship leader Brannon Fowler by 66 and 67 points respectively. Robinson has been the most-successful driver on the circuit this season, winning six times.

Grandstands open at 5:00pm Saturday. Cherish Lombard of FOX10/Studio10 will be the Grand Marshal.

Grandstand admission:
$15 for adults, $14 for seniors, $12 for Students 12-17, $7 for military and policemen, $5 for children 6-11, and ages 5-and-under free with adult

Pit gate opens at 9:00am for late models and 1:00pm for local cars and spectators; passes are $25. Everyone under the age of 19 must have a signed parental consent form.
