Step into the shoes of an orchestra conducter at Somerby of Mobile! The active retirement community, is bringing a world renowned conductor to Mobile to share memory enhancing low-impact exercises set to classical music with Seniors at all levels of mobility.
Maestro Dworkin is the New York-based, 75-year-old founder of Conductorcise. During Conductorcise, he will guide you as you conduct a Beethoven symphony, Strauss waltz, Bernstein dance or other lively orchestral piece in your own way. You'll have a great time, while learning more about the composers and their music.
Conductorcise is one of the memory enhancing initiatives associated with the Masterpiece Living program for Seniors. Masterpiece Living is an international concept which focuses on enhancement of mind, body and soul for Seniors. It was developed in conjunction with the Mayo Clinic following a 10-year study on ageing by the MacArthur Foundation.
Usually, Conductorcise classes include Seniors on walkers, in wheelchairs, with canes and those who are totally mobile. Maestro Dworkin has them exercising to music with batons in hand as he jumps on tables and flies through the air! His energy and enthusiasm for active ageing is contagious!
Maestro Dworkin will be in Mobile at Somerby on Thursday, March 24, and Friday, March 25. For more information go to www.masterpieceliving.com or www.conductorcise.com .
