The Dauphin Island Arts & Crafts Festival is set for this Saturday, April 21.
This is the tenth year for the event and this year they have 60 artisans and a waiting list. The event is that popular. The event is sponsored by the St. Francis Episcopal Church and will be held from 9 AM to 4 PM under the majestic oaks on the Church property.
The proceeds from the sales of the booths benefit Wilmer Hall in Mobile.
The mission of Wilmer Hall is to provide a safe and growth-producing environment for children in need. The mission is accomplished through application of Christian principles delivered in a home-like atmosphere that engenders spiritual, physical and educational health for both residents and staff.
Some of the artists this year include Frank Ledbetter's metal art and Katy Blake, a young 25 year old artist paralyzed from the waist down. It's her first festival and she's raising money for her rehab to walk again.
There will be lots of painters, potters, wood turners, jewelry designers and much more. The artists come from Mississippi, Louisiana, Florida, Alabama, and even as far as Maine.
