Greg Shelton began Shelton Fireworks at age 19 back in 1975 with a 4x8 foot stand at the edge of his hometown of Chillicothe, Missouri. After Greg graduated form college, he built three Missouri warehouses between 1978 and 1981.

Greg started his Indiana expansion with his first effort at Fremont. In the early 2000s, Greg built warehouses at Fair Play, and Blacksburg, South Carolina. Alabama was next at Robertsdale and Cusseta. Now, Greg has 15 warehouses in Missouri, Indiana, South Carolina and Alabama.

You'll find thousands of fireworks to choose from at Shelton Fireworks in Robertsdale. But remember, when you're shooting fireworks, safety comes first. Before you shoot your fireworks, look at each item you are going to be using so you'll know where the fuse is located. That way you won't have to fumble around in the dark as you're trying to find it. It's also a good idea to have the all fuses turned in the same direction.

Here are a few more safety tips:

  • Always read and follow label directions.
  • Have an adult present.
  • Buy from reliable sellers.
  • Use outdoors only.
  • Always have water handy (a garden hose and a bucket).
  • Never experiment or make your own fireworks.
  • Light only one firework at a time.
  • Never re-light a "dud" firework (wait 15 to 20 minutes and then soak it in a bucket of water).
  • Never give fireworks to small children.
  • If necessary, store fireworks in a cool, dry place.
  • Dispose of fireworks properly by soaking them in water and then disposing of them in your trash can.
  • Never throw or point fireworks at other people.
  • Never carry fireworks in your pocket.
  • Never shoot fireworks in metal or glass containers.
  • The shooter should always wear eye protection and never have any part of the body over the firework.
  • Stay away from illegal explosives.
