Dogs love Mardi Gras too, so get them ready and take them to Fairhope for the "Krewe of Mardi Paws" parade. The Baldwin County Humane Society invites you and your leashed dogs to participate in the Apollo’s Mystic Ladies parade on Friday, February 1, 2013 at 6:45p.m. Line up is at 5:30 p.m. at the Daphne Civic Center.
It's free to walk in the parade! The canine crew, including many of the adoptable dogs from the Baldwin County Humane Society will get to follow the BARC! van in the parade. Anyone sho has dogs who can tolerate parade noise and commotion are encouraged to stroll through Fairhope with local animal lovers.
Volunteers are still needed to carry banners and distribute handouts along the parade route. If you would like to volunteer, or if you would like more information about the parade, please call the Baldwin County Humane Society the week of January 28 at (251) 928-4585. Everyone is welcome to participate!
The Baldwin County Humane Society was formed in 1979 as the county’s first animal advocacy group, and it remains the only county-wide animal welfare agency. Staff members and volunteers at the shelter work to eliminate the number of abused and abandoned pets through spay and neuter, education, rescue, and adoption.
In 2012, BARC! found homes for 365 dogs and cats. The agency relies solely on donations to accomplish its mission. You can see the list of dogs and cats currently looking for forever homes at www.baldwinhumane.org . For more information, you can call the BARC! office at 251-928-4585.
*The rain date for the parade is February 7, 2013.
