Help purchase pet oxygen masks

Thousands of pets die each year from smoke inhalation, but they don't have to. There is an oxygen mask created just for animals.

A human mask is made for a human's face shape. The pet mask accounts for an animal's muzzle, and has a rubber partition to make sure it is fit snuggly around the animal's mouth. The smallest mask can even be used for birds and hamsters, because their heads can fit into the rubber partition.

Dr. Daniell Bercier is getting the word out about the project to supply the pet oxygen masks kits to area fire departments and K9 units. Some firehouses in Baldwin County already have the kits.

Each kit costs $75, and includes three different sizes. There are also three oxygen lines, slip leads, and a laminated card on pet CPR and emergency advice.

If you would like to donate money to help purchase the kits to be given to fire departments and K9 units, donations can be dropped off at Equine Medical Service in Silverhill or Dykes Veterinary Clinic in Foley. You can also mail the donations directly to Dr. Danielle Bercier at 15828 South Blvd., Silverhill AL 36576 or call 251-945-7555.
