Learn to Fly a Glider!

How would you like to learn how to fly a glider? It feels like your soaring through the sky the way a bird does! Coastal Soaring Association in Pensacola offers introductory flights that take you through preflight, launch behind a tow plane, 20 to 30 minutes of flying, and a safe and exciting landing.

You get to experience what it's like to be a pilot of your own motorless aircraft, while your instructor explains the basic techniques of soaring. You'll have the opportunity to view the Pensacola area as well as Perdido Bay and the beautiful beaches. Your pilot will even let you steer the glider.

Soaring isn't restricted to any special group or age. In fact, the Federal Administration Administration has set the minimum age to pilot a sailplane solo at 14-years-old. A day at Coastal Airport near Pensacola learning to fly is a pleasure and soaring is a pastime your entire family can enjoy.

Most people will take 30-35 lessons before he or she is permitted to fly solo. The average cost of flights and instruction is $1700. Current power pilots can normally transition into gliders and solo within 8 to 10 flights. The average cost for transition pilots is $550. These estimates do not include initiation and monthly dues.

Getting started is easy! All you have to do is contact the pilots at Coastal Soaring at csa.introflight@gmail.com and schedule a $75.00 introductory flight. After that, if you're "hooked", just join the Coastal Soaring Association and they'll work with you to schedule training in all the facets of club membership and airfield operation and flying.
