Cyclists from across the Gulf Coast are pumping up their tires and fitting their helmets in anticipation of RIDEYELLOW 2012 – the 6th annual charity bike ride that has ALWAYS been more than just a bike ride. On Saturday, June 16, 2012, the ride will once again start and finish at Halliday Park Baseball Complex on McMeans Avenue in Bay Minette, Alabama.
RIDEYELLOW is a dynamic, colorful, and fun event drawing almost 700 cyclists of every level from more than 10 states. Since the beginning, the event has been a truly meaningful experience not only for the riders, but for the hundreds of volunteers involved as well.
This year, ride organizers expect cyclists of all skill levels from fancy racing cycles to kids on banana seat bikes to ride one of four rides through the beautiful rolling hills of northern Baldwin County:
6 mile ride for beginners and kids (should take 30-45 minutes to complete)
10 mile ride for beginners (takes about an hour to complete)
37 mile ride for intermediate riders (may take 2 ½ hours to complete)
62 mile ride for very experienced riders (may take more than 3 hours to complete)
(Complete course routes and additional information available at www.rideyellow.org )
All riders and spectators along the course are urged to wear yellow t-shirts or cycling jerseys. Pre-registration is encouraged and the event is limited to 1000 participants. Mail-in registration must be received by June 14th or register online at www.rideyellow.org or www.active.com . Packet pick-up and registration begins Friday, June 15th from 5-7 at the North Baldwin Infirmary Wellness Center located at 2115 Hand Avenue in Bay Minette, AL. On the morning of the ride, packet pick-up and day-of registration begins at 5:30 a.m., all rides begin at 7:00 a.m. T-shirts will be distributed at the post-ride celebration at the Halliday Park Baseball Complex.
Last year, on behalf of the sponsors, riders, and over 200 volunteers, RIDEYELLOW proudly presented checks totaling $75,000 to LOCAL groups helping to STOMP cancer.
