The 2012-2013 season at Chickasaw Civic Theater opens with the Harper Lee classic “To Kill A Mockingbird”. To Kill a Mockingbird is a Southern classic. The story is about a child’s view of racism and responsibility in 1930s Alabama.
Scout and her brother Jem are just children, and their biggest adventures are driven by curiosity about a reclusive neighbor. When their father, lawyer Atticus Finch, is appointed to represent an African American man accused of raping a white woman, their lives and their community are challenged in ways they never imagined. The children start to appreciate their father and see him as a noble and heroic individual who's doing all that one man can to protect justice.
