The Surrender Oak festival in an annual event hosted by the Citronelle Historical Preservation Society to commemorate the surrender of Confederate forces to Union forces on May 4, 1865.
The day includes a living history program and reenactment of the surrender, a horse and mule parade, horse and buggy rides, historical tours of Citronelle, various vendors selling food and other goods, and "Days Gone By" exhibits and demonstrations such as: butter churning, milking, whittling, turpentine extraction, wooden bowl making, quilting, square dancing, Native American dances, and other traditional crafters demonstrating their crafts and selling their wares.
