Tealing at the Taqueria

The Teal Life Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization that was founded in 2012. The mission of Teal Life Foundation is to provide assistance to women with ovarian cancer with chemotherapy, radiation, and medications. The organization also strives to incorporate the community in raising awareness about early detection to save lives.

Ovarian cancer is the fifth leading cause of cancer deaths among women age 35-74 and is the most deadly of gynecologic cancers. The American Cancer Society has estimated that 22,280 women worldwide will receive a new diagnosis of ovarian cancer each year. This averages to be approximately 1 in every 71 women. About 15,500 deaths occur each year due to ovarian cancer.

There are several Ovarian Cancer Foundations who’s fundraising goes to benefit research. The Teal Life Foundation works with the community to raise awareness about early detection to save lives, and with area cancer centers in assisting with medical costs for women receiving the necessary treatment to combat their illness.

All proceeds from "Tealing at the Taqueria" will benefit Teal Life. The event will be held Sunday July 22, 2012 from 5:00-9:00pm at the OK Bicycle Shop. Tickets are $30 in advance, and $35 at the door. Admission includes the Taqueria’s famous food, entertainment, the chance to bid on silent auction items and raffle entry.
